Pikes Peak Cardiology Promotes Primary Care Physician-Patient Relations
Pocket EKG is a proven strategy for promoting a cardiology practice to referring primary care physicians. When your cardiology practice adopts the Program, we send out a letter announcing the availability of the Pocket EKG service to referring physicians in your area. The letter highlights that there is a place on the front of the Pocket EKG Card that contains the referring physicians name and phone number and expresses your practice's desire to share in the cardiovascular care of their patients, creating a partnership between your practice and key patient gatekeepers.

Beyond promoting relationships with primary care providers, the Pocket EKG Program builds patient relations. For example, survey results for Pikes Peak Cardiology in Colorado Springs, CO showed that 92 percent of patients found the Pocket EKG Card promoted loyalty to the cardiology practice. Such loyal patients provide word-of-mouth referrals, an invaluable contributor to practice reputation and customer base.

Sentara Health System and Bayshore Medical Center Use Pocket EKG to Build Hospital-Physician Relations

The Pocket EKG Program is a proven strategy for promoting relations but it is a great tool for building physician relations as well. Hospitals find that cardiologists are easily recruited to interpret the EKG's of screening participants in exchange for recognition. The hospital promotes the screening and can hold it at its own facility or in the partnering cardiologist's office. When a screening participant receives his/her Pocket EKG Card in the mail, it is accompanied by a customized hospital marketing piece as well as a letter with the participant's EKG interpretation, as assessed by the partnering cardiologist. The letter is customized to the needs of the hospital and can recognize the partnering cardiologist(s) in many ways. For example, the letter can name the practice and recommend that participants with minor-abnormal or abnormal interpretations follow-up with a physician at the practice. Further, the marketing piece can include a directory of physicians who read the EKG's. Thus, the hospital is "partnering" with the cardiologists that support their organization and sending contact information on those physicians directly to the patients following their screening, offering patient recruitment assistance to physicians and increasing physician referrals to the hospital system.
